My latest literary exploration came from this cranium. Malcolm Gladwell's The Tipping Point is perhaps one of the most useful books I've read. I would recommend it to anybody.

It's official!

I am insane. I registered at nanowrimo. I am going to attempt to 50k words in 31 days. I will either humbly succeed or brilliantly fail. I hope you're all with me!

"The nub of political disagreement today...can be traced ultimately and finally to the matter of moral authority...the basis by which people determine whether something is good or bad, right or wrong, acceptable or unacceptable..." (From Culture Wars by James Davidson Hunter 42).

The difference between orthodox (conservative) and progressive (liberal):

Orthodox: "commitment on the part of adherents to an external, definable, and transcendent authority" ( Hunter 44).

Progressive: " tendency to resymbolize historic faiths according to the prevailing assumptions of contemporary life" (Hunter 44-45).

When we focus our attention on political differences, rather than philosophical and moral differences, we just get caught up into the "BIG FIGHT." We have got to understand where it is that people are starting, what's really at the root of the disagreement.

Despite what "everyone" says...its not really about money. Its really about whether or not there is such a thing as absolute truth.
