So I bought The River Why yesterday. I didn't realize before purchasing it that it is all about fly fishing. I have read the first couple chapters and I enjoy this guys writing style. You know, it was strange. I told the lady there that I was looking for a certain book by a certain author that a certain friend of mine (Jennifer Joy Staab) had highly recommended. All I could recall was that the author used his full name (Douglas something?) and that the book made you laugh, cry and was completely absorbing. From this information she came up with the River Y and said, Is this it? She pulled it straight out of my brainoid. She recently went to a reading of this guy (what IS his name?) and he did some portion of The Brothers K. She told him that reading his work made her want to read it out loud, and he took that as the greatest compliment. So I am looking forward to starting it after I finish this Robert Jordan book I am working on. From the quest to save the world from evil to the in's and out's of fly-fishing...

Dilemma

I had been looking for a certain volume of poetry, elusive and canny, until today. I found it hidden in a book of collected poems and thought I was the canny one, but then I wondered that if I was looking for someone, searching every movie theater until I found him standing in line, wedged between a large man with a baseball cap and a woman holding a cat, would I take them all home?
